History

1855 - The history of Sodexo in Sweden started when what were known as the Systembolag Inns were opened with a licence to serve schnapps (Systembolaget is the Swedish Alcohol Retail Monopoly).

1916 - Sara, the original company, starts to operate a restaurant business.

1944 - A cleaning business is started under the name of Städcentralen – which is subsequently changed to Renia.

1988 - Procordia purchases the cleaning company Renia. Procordia Service is then created through the amalgamation of Sara Cater Partner (catering), ABAB (monitoring/security) and Renia (cleaning).

1992 - The Partena company is established by Procordia Service. Partena originally consists of Partena Cater, Partena Clean and Partena Security – and Partena Care is later added to the group.

1995 - Partena is purchased by the French service company Sodexho Alliance. Partena Security is then sold to Falck (currently Falck Security) in 1996.

2000 - Partena changes its name to Sodexho and becomes a legal company unit, Sodexo AB.

2001 - Partena Care is sold to TeleLarm Care (now Attendo Care) with a view to refining the core business.

2002 - Sodexo acquires ACC (as subsidiary).

2004 - Sodexo Vending Services AB joins forces with Smiling Faces AB under the shared name of Smiling Faces (sister company to Sodexo AB).
